Repair information & privacy
Plain-English information about diagnosis, authorisation, data and how your details are handled.
Diagnosis and estimates
The standard diagnosis charge is £35. If you proceed with the repair, that £35 is deducted from the final repair bill unless a different arrangement is agreed in advance.
If work beyond the agreed amount is needed, I’ll contact you before carrying it out. An estimate may change if a device reveals additional faults that could not reasonably be identified during the initial inspection.
Parts
Parts are charged separately unless the quote says otherwise. For custom PC builds and other jobs involving higher-value components, parts may need to be paid for before they are ordered.
Your normal consumer rights are unaffected.
Your data and backups
Please back up important files before leaving a computer for repair whenever you are able to do so. Repairs, drive faults, malware and operating-system work can carry a risk of data loss even when reasonable care is taken.
Standard data-transfer and drive-cloning services cover data that can be accessed normally. Specialist recovery from physically failed, severely corrupted or damaged storage is not included unless specifically agreed.
Passwords and access
Some repairs require access to Windows or another user account. If a password or PIN is required, it will only be used for the work you have authorised. You can change it after collection if you prefer.
Collection and payment
I’ll contact you when the device is ready. Payment is due on collection unless another arrangement has been agreed. Please collect completed equipment promptly or contact me if you need more time.
Privacy
Leighton Tech Services may keep the contact details, device information, fault description, work carried out, parts used and payment information needed to manage your repair and maintain business records.
Customer information is used to provide the service, communicate about the job, keep appropriate records and meet legal or accounting obligations. It is not sold to advertisers.
This website does not intentionally use advertising trackers or analytics cookies. If that changes, this page should be updated before such tools are enabled.
